Plain terms for a study tool. Using Dokimos means agreeing to these.

What Dokimos is
Dokimos is a study tool for men preparing for licensure and ordination examination in the Presbyterian Church in America. It drills the material a credentials committee and the floor of presbytery examine, and it rehearses the oral exams in the shape they actually take.
What Dokimos is not
This is the part worth reading twice.
- It is not the exam, and it does not speak for any presbytery. The verdicts it gives you — sustained, sustained with areas noted, not sustained — are practice feedback in presbytery language. They carry no ecclesiastical weight, and no presbytery is bound by them or informed of them.
- It is not a substitute for your presbytery’s own standards. What gets pressed varies by presbytery. The Book of Church Order and your committee govern; Dokimos does not.
- It is not doctrinal authority. The Westminster Standards as adopted by the PCA are the standard. Where Dokimos summarises or paraphrases — including its paraphrases of the BCO — the original text governs, and you should check it.
- It is not a person, and its AI features are not an examiner. The AI in Dokimos is a study tool asking the kinds of questions a committee asks. It can be wrong. Verify citations before you repeat them on the floor.
Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your credentials to yourself.
- One account per person. Don’t share a login.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Dokimos is for adults preparing for ordained ministry. It is not intended for anyone under 18.
Your content is yours
Your answers, self-grades, drafted exceptions, notes, and study record belong to you. We claim no ownership. We use them only to operate the app for you — running the scheduler, producing your debriefs, and sending the narrow content described in the privacy policy to Anthropic when you trigger an AI feature.
Your practice-room data stays private to you. The full commitment is in the privacy policy under “the visibility covenant,” and it is part of these terms.
Our content
Question banks, concept material, study notes, the design system, and the software itself belong to Dokimos and its licensors. You may use them for your own exam preparation. Please don’t republish, resell, or redistribute them, or use them to build a competing product.
Some material is quoted or paraphrased from public sources — the Westminster Standards in the PCA’s own published editions, and the Book of Church Order in paraphrase with section references. Those texts belong to their publishers, not to us.
Acceptable use
Don’t:
- Scrape, bulk-export, or systematically copy the question bank.
- Attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Use the service to harass anyone or to break the law.
- Share your account so several people study on one seat.
We may suspend an account that does these things.
AI features and your API key
Some features call Anthropic’s API. If you supply your own key, calls made with it are billed to you by Anthropic, and Anthropic’s own terms apply to them. AI features have rate limits, and they may be unavailable — the rest of the app keeps working without them.
Availability
We aim to keep Dokimos running and to protect your data, but this is a service that can go down, change, or have features removed. We do not promise uninterrupted availability.
Platform stewardship
Dokimos is operated by a named platform steward who sets up and supports courts — presbyteries, seats, and invitation links, across presbyteries. Every steward access is written to an append-only record. The steward holds no seat in any court, and a candidate’s practice room is invisible to him as well — not by policy, but because the console he uses runs on a client that has no such tables.
Subscriptions and payment
Dokimos has no billing today — no money changes hands to use it. When presbytery subscriptions exist, this section will set out who contracts, what a seat is, renewal, cancellation, refunds, and what happens to a candidate’s access and data when a subscription lapses — before any payment is taken.
Ending it
You can stop using Dokimos at any time and ask us to delete your account — see the privacy policy. We may end or suspend access if these terms are broken.
Disclaimer and liability
Dokimos is provided “as is.” We do not warrant that its content is free of error, that it covers everything your presbytery will ask, or that using it will result in a successful examination.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will say so here and date it; continuing to use Dokimos after that means accepting the change.
